Dailies On The Vine

But for Love, I will drink this cup

The paradox of love and suffering. In love Christ suffered for us, and He still suffers for our love. Our hearts may suffer long on this side of Heaven but we become like Him and know Him in this mysterious realm. Some of us have more prolonged aches than others, and many times we ask, “not this cup, please”. The cup of long suffering. But for love, for union with Him.

“Love suffers long”.
1 Corinthians 13:4

“And just as we experience the abundance of Christ’s own sufferings, even more of God’s comfort will cascade upon us through our union with Christ.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭

“And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and become like him in his death. Only then will I be able to experience complete oneness with him in his resurrection from the realm of death.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:10-11‬ ‭
