To the degree that you will empty yourself is the measure that you can be filled with Jesus.
Many people claim to want and desire more of God though refuse to deny self.
“You will empty yourself” – others can not do this for you. The closeness of our relationship with the Lord and the fruit thereof is ultimately our decision. While we are not saved by works, emptying ourselves is a continuous act of yielding one’s individual will. Hence, Paul writes, “I die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31).
Resurrection life possesses dead people, and its power flows through those who walk in death (to self will) daily.
The Acts Church was a ‘dead church’, though we have yet to see one more fully alive since.
If not now, then when?
”I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.“ Galatians 2:20 AMPC
”Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.“ Philippians 2:5-11 ESV
”He must increase, but I must decrease. [He must grow more prominent; I must grow less so.] [Isa. 9:7.] He Who comes from above (heaven) is [far] above all [others]; he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth, and talks the language of earth [his words are from an earthly standpoint]. He Who comes from heaven is [far] above all others [far superior to all others in prominence and in excellence].“ John 3:30-31 AMPC
