The anointing is not illustrious or alluring, it illuminates God’s glory and is holy. This can be confusing even to the most pure in heart if not discerned correctly.
What do I mean? The anointing is attractive and it is meant to be, like a magnet or bright light the anointing coats one like a glaze to shine the Light and glory of Christ. “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”” John 12:32 NKJV.
When I was a young teen, I would on occasion feel “the anointing” when I was listening to secular music. One day in my room when I had been listening to the radio, I asked the Lord, how this could be, thinking I wasn’t in church and I certainly wasn’t listening to worship music. The Lord said to me, “Everyone is anointed, it’s who they choose to glorify with their anointing”. Then I realized, in the big picture we are glorifying either God or Satan, and in essence I was listening to worship music. And no servant can have two masters … I immediately understood these musicians and singers were glorifying themselves and Satan.
I understand for some this is a hard pill to swallow. While I don’t think every single non-worship song is glorying the devil, I think we have long been allured by anointing’s that glory in themselves – whether on platforms or not, whether inside the church or not, whether musical worship or not. And for that matter, worship is not limited to music; for everything we yield as a sacrifice (the giving of our time, our finances, our gifts, etc.) and in every way that we set ourselves apart unto to God in spirit, soul, and body is an act of worship. “Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”Romans 12:1-2 AMP
The purpose of the anointing is to draw men to Christ who is in you, the Anointed One. One of the meanings of anointing is “to smear”, and we must be careful to not use this covering for ourselves, for when we do we dilute and pollute what is due His Name by allowing self to penetrate through this smearing, and are now but mixture obscuring the divine mysteries. “the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” Colossians 1:26-28 NKJV
How can everyone be anointed? It’s part of the DNA the Lord created you with. Some have more visible ‘coating’ than others, yet we must remember we are anointed and graced for different things. For example, most psychics are called to be prophets but they do not know their Creator and so glorify themselves and the enemy. This is another reason why Scripture tells us if we receive our reward on earth (glory) we will not receive it in Heaven.
Satan who desired his own glory was cast from Heaven for this very reason. He recognized his anointing, beauty, and adornment, becoming infatuated with himself he desired to be exalted above God. Pride lead to his fall. ““Thus says the Lord God: “You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you. In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you. By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who saw you. All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.”” Ezekiel 28:12-19 ESV
This is why death to self is a daily requirement. “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” John 10:10 AMP. We will fall daily, and we will die daily, however we either fall picking up our cross unto the Life of Christ, or we fall through our own pride. Our pride is a reflection of Satan, while our death to self is a reflection of Christ: when we feed ourselves by the sinful nature we help to exalt Satan in the spirit world and when we deny ourselves daily and feed on the Bread of Life we exalt Jesus who is the Name above every Name. And this is the daily war until the end of the age. Now we understand the final war has already been won; so this is the dilemma, the free will of man. Man’s human nature must be held in check, for we all too often become self absorbed. Satan desires the glory for himself, and as our adversary, every time we take glory for ourselves we are actually giving ground to him and giving him a jewel in his crown. He was stripped of his beauty, so the only way he can receive beauty and glory is when we offer our gems to him, and or he takes them when we fall through our pride and self exaltation. The war is for the glory, the glory shines through sons and daughters, what image do you bear? Who is your father?
Scripture writes the anointing destroys the yoke of bondage (Isaiah 10:27). When we wrongfully or selfishly use the anointing, instead of the anointing destroying yokes because of the authority given us, we are governed by the lesser rule of the enemies domain and become bonds to his slavery.
I have written of the above before, yet this is a note worthy of reverberation. You see Satan only desires your soul because He longs for a Bride as well. It is his scheming delight, trickery, and selfishness to take your soul for his glory. Vast are his empty promises wrapped in the pride of life, lust of the flesh, and lust of the eyes (and yes I am writing even to the believer’s). Rooted in self is his desire to take your gems for a crown for himself, raping your soul for any treasure then locking you away in the abyss forever in torment, and separated from Love Himself in the chambers of hell. Satan hates God and equally hates man, because men are the Light bearers of God created in His image. With an understanding that eternal darkness is his fate, Satan fueled by resentment will do anything and everything to wound a heart to detach them from their Creator. But it was Jesus, rightfully named Savior, who gave Himself for the souls of all mankind to purchase His Bride back (atonement for our sins) so that He may be One with Her. Jesus gave up His glory to die and (eventually) marry His Bride. Jesus’ love is the epitome of selflessness, this is eternal life to know the Messiah and be known by Him united as One. Death to self was His invitation to an eternal covenant of Love.
Satan was cast down from glory and desires to be lifted up, he desires ascension. He ascends through the praise of man, which to you and I looks like our sin. He longs for the breath of God, to smell the fragrance of the throne room where once his perfect pitch and melodies filled the House. Now condemned to an abode filled with the stench of sulfur, (literally the smell of rotten eggs) is but a reminder he has no life! “Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, And the sound of your stringed instruments; The maggot is spread under you, And worms cover you.’ “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.” Isaiah 14:11-15 NKJV.
The Bible and our spiritual realities are so simple, and yet complex. However we must remember everything in earth is a mirror of Heaven. Satan can not create, he can only imitate. In a flash of light he was disrobed of splendor and beauty, “And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven. Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven. [Exod. 32:32; Ps. 69:28; Dan. 12:1.]”
Luke 10:18-20 AMPC. We ascend with Christ when we die with Him and are seated with Him at the right side of the Father. Our lives of obedience and love are sacrifices of praises that enthrone Him, and exalt His Name, Jesus Christ the Most Holy and Anointed One. This is where we dwell with Him, “But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.” Psalms 22:3 NKJV.
The coated Man of Light! May it be our prayer to bear the image of the Man of Heaven, honor His anointing and reflect His Light! Jesus You are the Shining One, may we humbly present You with every costly gem Your crown deserves. For our image was formed from Your face and any beauty is but Your beauty. “And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven.” 1 Corinthians 15:49 AMPC. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17 NKJV.
“Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God].”Colossians 3:1-5 AMP
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah” Psalm 24:1-10 ESV
